[community] No joke: 2024 NSF Unidata Equipment Awards deadline extended to April 12

Hello NSF Unidata Community,

While this message is being sent on April 1st, it is not a prank. The Users
Committee has extended the deadline for submissions to the 2023 Community
Equipment Award Grants program until April 12, 2024.

If you're not familiar with the Equipment Awards program, you may not
realize that NSF Unidata offers grants of up to $20,000 to institutions
that need funds to purchase equipment that aids in using NSF Unidata
technologies including (but not limited to) NSF Unidata AWIPS, the
Integrated Data Viewer (IDV), MetPy and other NSF Unidata Python-based
projects, the THREDDS Data Server (TDS), and the Local Data Manager (LDM)
to further teaching and research in the Earth Systems Sciences. There's a
nifty short explanatory video on the Equipment Awards
<https://www.unidata.ucar.edu/community/equipaward/> page.

If you have a project in mind but missed the original deadline, here's a
second chance. The program is intended to be easy to apply for (proposals
are generally fewer than ten pages), and Program Center staff are happy to
help if you have questions. (We encourage you to ask us!) If you have
already submitted for the 2024 program and would like to use the extra time
to amend your proposal, please feel free to do so.

Thanks for your interest,
Doug Dirks and the Unidata Staff
